Terms of use
These are the conditions that apply when you use examit.club. They are written to be read rather than skipped, and they are short because we ask very little of you: use the material for learning and teaching, do not sell it, and do not present it as your own work.
Acceptance
By using this website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, the appropriate response is not to use the site. You do not need to create an account or click anything to accept; using the material is acceptance, which is the ordinary position for a freely published collection.
These terms should be read together with our privacy policy, cookie policy, accessibility statement and disclaimer.
Who you are dealing with
examit.club is published by Examit Educational Resource Centre, a not-for-profit organization registered in the Province of Ontario, Canada, at 245 Bloor Street East, Suite 610, Toronto, Ontario M4W 3T5. Contact: info@examit.club, +1 (416) 555-0182, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time.
Educational use
This is the part most people are looking for.
You may, without asking us and at no cost:
- Read, download and print anything on this site for your own study.
- Photocopy and distribute our worksheets, templates, checklists and guides to students in a classroom, tutoring group, library programme or community learning setting.
- Project our material in a lesson, workshop or lecture.
- Link to any page here from anywhere, including in a course reading list or virtual learning environment.
- Quote short passages in your own work, with a citation.
- Keep printed copies indefinitely, including after we revise or withdraw the original.
The conditions are:
- The attribution line stays on the page. Every printable carries one; do not remove it.
- You do not charge for our material itself. Charging for your own teaching time, or recovering photocopying costs, is entirely fine. Selling a bundle of our worksheets is not.
- You do not present our material as your own work, or as endorsed by us when it has been altered.
- Adaptations and translations are marked as adaptations, and you tell us about them first so we can check they are accurate. Write to info@examit.club; we have approved several and refused none.
If you need a class set carrying your institution’s name alongside ours, or a version adapted for a specific accessibility requirement, ask and we will prepare one at no charge.
What is not permitted
- Selling, licensing or sub-licensing our material, or including it in a paid product, course or subscription.
- Republishing substantial portions of the collection on another website, with or without attribution.
- Systematic or automated harvesting of the site, including scraping for the purpose of building a competing collection or training a commercial model. Ordinary search engine indexing is welcome.
- Removing, obscuring or altering attribution, call numbers or review dates.
- Using our name, marks or reputation to imply endorsement of a product, service, institution or opinion.
- Attempting to interfere with the site’s operation, security or availability, or with other visitors’ use of it.
- Using the message form or our email address to send unsolicited commercial messages.
Intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise on the item itself, the text, diagrams, worksheets, templates, layout and code on this site are the property of Examit Educational Resource Centre and are protected by Canadian and international copyright law. The permissions in the educational use section above are granted freely and can be relied upon; they do not transfer ownership.
Where we reproduce material belonging to someone else — a quotation, a figure redrawn from a published paper, a data series — it is attributed at the point of use and remains the property of its owner. If you believe we have used your material without proper permission or attribution, write to info@examit.club with the details and we will investigate promptly. We would rather correct an error than defend one.
The name Examit and our mark are used to identify this organization and its publications.
Material you send us
If you send us a correction, a suggestion or feedback, you allow us to act on it and, where relevant, to incorporate it into the collection. We are not obliged to use it, to keep it confidential, or to pay for it, and by sending it you confirm it is yours to send. Where a reader’s contribution substantially shapes a guide, we credit them by name if they want us to.
Please do not send confidential material, assessed work, personal health information, or anything you would not want a small editorial team in Toronto to read.
Availability
We aim to keep the site available continuously, but we do not guarantee it. It may be unavailable for maintenance, because of a hosting fault, or for reasons outside our control. We are a small organization without a night shift, so an outage beginning on a Friday evening may not be resolved until Monday morning.
We may add, revise or withdraw material at any time. Guides withdrawn from the collection remain reachable with a notice explaining why, because people may have relied on them.
External links
Where we link to another organization — a library service, a public body, a data source — we are pointing at something we think is useful, not vouching for everything on it. We have no control over external sites, receive no payment for linking, and take no responsibility for their content, availability or privacy practices. Following an external link takes you outside these terms.
No professional advice
Everything on this site is general educational material published for a wide audience. It is not personal academic advice, and it is not legal, medical, financial or career advice. It cannot take account of your programme, your institution’s regulations or your circumstances, and where it conflicts with instructions from your instructor or institution, follow theirs. See the disclaimer for the full statement.
Limitation of liability
The material on this site is provided as it is. We take real care over accuracy — every guide is reviewed by a second editor and re-checked annually — but we do not warrant that it is free of errors, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Examit, its staff, volunteers and advisers are not liable for any loss arising from use of this site or reliance on its content, including academic results, missed deadlines or decisions made on the basis of something published here. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply in it. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder continues to apply.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms. The date at the top of the page shows when the current version took effect, and substantive changes are described in the news section rather than made silently. Continuing to use the site after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms. We will not retroactively restrict permissions already relied upon for material you have already printed and distributed.
